Order of Saint Martin

Ancient Order of Saint Martin - Gold

NOTE: Eligibility is limited to Quartermasters

The Ancient Order of Saint Martin is the most distinguished of the three levels of the Military Order of Saint Martin. It recognizes the select few who stand above their brethren of the Distinguished Order. The specific criteria for acceptance into the Ancient Order is to have performed conspicuous long term service which so singularly distinguishes themselves as contributors to the Quartermaster Corps that they have few peers. Nominees must be General Officers, Command Sergeant Major/Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer Five, or Senior Executive Service Civilian. Membership in either the Distinguished or Honorable orders is not prerequisite for membership in the Ancient Order.

An individual may only be nominated for the Ancient Order by an Active or Retired Quartermaster General Officer, Regimental Warrant Officer, Regimental Command Sergeant Major serving at the General Officer level, or a civilian in the Senior Executive Service.

To be inducted into the Ancient Order of Saint Martin requires the unanimous approval of the Quartermaster General, Regimental Warrant Officer, Regimental Command Sergeant Major, the Honorary Colonel of the Regiment, the Honorary Warrant, and Honorary Sergeant Major of the Regiment. Induction into the Ancient Order will take place annually at the Quartermaster Birthday Ball.

Distinguished Order of Saint Martin - Silver

The Distinguished Order of Saint Martin is the senior leader order presented to Senior Field Grades, Senior Warrant Officers, Command Sergeants Major, Sergeants Major, First Sergeant or Master Sergeant and Civilians in the grade of GS-13 through Senior Executive Services positions and above. The Distinguished Order is for soldiers who have performed conspicuous, long-term service for, or on behalf of, the United States Army Quartermaster Corps. The Distinguished Order is reserved for an elite few whose careers have embodied the spirit, dignity, and sense of sacrifice and commitment epitomized by Saint Martin. Membership in the Honorable Order is not a prerequisite for membership into the Distinguished Order.

Catharine Greene Award Guidelines

The Catharine Greene award was approved by the Quartermaster General in January 2001 to provide an award that would recognize significant contributions and support provided by Quartermaster spouses.   Any member of the Quartermaster corps may nominate a deserving candidate for the Catharine Greene Award.  Although any member of the Quartermaster Corps may nominate a spouse, the nominating of your own spouse is highly discouraged and approving officials should carefully screen such nomination requests.

Award Criteria

In order to maintain the value and prestige of the Catharine Greene Award we have established three criteria that must be met in order for a nomination to be approved for the Catharine Greene Award.  Any deviation from these three criteria will cause the nomination requests to be forwarded to the Quartermaster General for consideration.

  • The nominee must be the spouse of a Quartermaster soldier or civilian.

  • The nominee's spouse must be a member of AQM.

  • The nominee must have provided a significant contribution or support to the Quartermaster

Corps, a unit, a community or to their spouse that is of a nature that emulates Mrs. Catharine Greene and is distinguishing from other spouse contributions.

Approving Authority

The Quartermaster General has delegated approval authority of the Catharine Greene award to Quartermaster Corps General Officers and Quartermaster Colonels(06) in command respectively.  If there is not a Quartermaster General or Colonel available in the nominee's organization, then the nomination must be endorsed by the nominator's commander and submitted to the Association of Quartermasters.  The Association will then review the packet and coordinate with the Quartermaster General for further review and approval.
